continuing out of order posts

The Gulf Coast amazed us. Suddenly it was there when we took a chance and got off the interstate. (It took a while to get there, but that just made it all the more rewarding.)

The houses facing the coast are fabulous, but the took quite a hit in a hurricane a few years back. Some of them are just shells right now. Others are among the coolest I've ever seen.

Also, there was a huge hot rod gathering, called something like "Cruisin' the Coast," going on near Biloxi. 10 thousand? 20 thousand? 50 thousand cars? It really tied up the traffic. Still Mike and I would like to go back to this area someday.

Apparently we didn't take any good pictures of the various hot rod staging we went by, but the 43 second video will give you a sense of the event ... especially if you consider that the video was shot eight miles from the event HQ.

By the way, we had our first taste of alligator here at a nice restaurant. A little chewy. A little tough. Slightly beefy meaty? We had five different sauces to dip the fried tail pieces and other seafood into, so it's even harder to say what it tastes like. I don't think it's eaten without sauces.
